Honeybee swarming is a natural behaviour. Swarming is when a colony essentially splits in half to spread their genes while in search of a new home. The swarm is a large ball of bees temporarily resting on various structures until they move into their new permanent home. Toronto Bee Rescue removes honey bee swarms in the GTA, Dufferin County and Peel Region.
The service is provided at no charge, when the swarm is located in an easily accessible location.
If you believe that you see a honeybee swarm, please leave them alone and contact an experienced beekeeper. Honeybees are quite docile in this state and are unlikely to bother you. The best thing you can do is keep an eye on them and wait for a professional beekeeper to arrive. Please do not spray them with water or pesticides.
